“Amongst your holiday giving don’t forget about the most important person, yourself” ⠀ The holidays can bring joy to many people, but it can also be very stressful for some of us. Whether it be a gift, holiday party, travel, kids, or all the above; the cause of this stress can commonly be attributed to giving too much of our energy away. Amongst all the hustle and bustle, it is easy for us to forget that the most important person in the equation is yourself. ⠀ Giving in its truest and most authentic form comes from a place of abundance. When we give to others, without giving to ourselves first, it can never truly be as authentic as we would hope. Think about the person you are giving to as well, if they truly cared for you, do you think they would accept a gift that causes any form of negativity in your life? ⠀ The next question then becomes, how do we give to ourselves to prevent the over churn of the holidays from impacting us?The first is a reconnection to self and most common misconception is that it needs to occurs in a yoga studio or seated meditation. The truth is, it can happen anywhere and come in the form of many different things. Think about what reconnects you to your most authentic self and do that! It could be weight training, hiking, cycling, or a relaxing massage. Whatever brings you the most consciousness to your current condition and reconnects you to your center is YOUR mindfulness and yoga. Once centered, the next step is gratitude. Think of the things that you have versus don’t and really hold yourselves in this appreciation (see my post on priming on November 20th). This will bring your perspective back to abundance versus lack. ⠀ 20 minutes a day, once a week, multiple times a week, how do we know when we’ve give ourselves enough!? When you close your eyes and give, is there any expectation of a return in any form? If the answer is no, that’s when you know you’ve got it. ⠀ Thank you for your presence. I have so much love, belief, appreciation, and admiration for you. The happiest of holidays to you and your family, namaste 🙏
