Gratitude

✌️ #mindfulnessmonday ✌️ ⠀ "As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." -John F. Kennedy ⠀ This week is Thanksgiving so I only saw it fitting for us to discuss one of the greatest conditions in our consciousness, gratitude. I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase “have an attitude of gratitude,” but in order for us to fully appreciate it as JFK says, the best way is to live it. Tonight, I want to offer a technique that will help you truly bring gratitude to the forefront of your awareness. ⠀ In order to strengthen our internal gratitude muscle, we must train it just like our physical bodies. To do this, I want to introduce a concept called priming. Priming helps us by bringing a heightened sense of awareness to a certain circumstance or condition. To start, I want you to get in a comfortable position and close your eyes with your palms facing up. Take a few deep breathes (at least 6 count) and relax. Once you are in a relaxed state, I want you to recall a moment in your life that you are most grateful for. When you have that moment, I want you to step into it as if you were there again. Recall all the senses of that experience from what you heard to what you felt. Amplify being in that space, feel it fully, and soak it all in. Now begin to shift your focus away from the sensory portion of the moment and just experience the fullness of appreciation and gratitude. Hold yourself in this space for at-least 2 minutes. ⠀ Using this to technique prime our gratitude helps us to radiate from a place of gratitude. You’ll begin to notice that “have to” quickly turns into “get to” and “needs” will turn into “wants.” Let’s not wait for one day to SAY what we’re grateful for...let’s LIVE it everyday.
